Gaming Internet Options-What Is The Optimal Choice?
Many that are avid gameplayers fall victim to a poor Internet choice. It has been the subject of many debates and recently has come to the forefront of gaming choices. The thing is when you already have the latest top of the line gaming computer like an Alienware desktop the Internet selection is the last call that may make the biggest impact. In this piece we're going to cover some of the most important pieces of disinformation that have been circulating around the net and review 1 or 2 tips from top gaming experts regarding what is the most optimal choices.
The 1st subject we'll cover is concerning download and upload capabilities. Possibly the most typical misunderstanding regarding speed is that game players need to have the fastest download capability around. While download speed is naturally significant it really is not as crucial as the speed of the upload. The 1st mistake most greenhorn game players make is when they check around for Internet speed they simply ask the sales rep what the velocity of the internet is. Customarily the service rep tends to quote the download speed unless you particularly ask what the upload is. This is extremely crucial as when your playing games online it is the upload that provides you the most substantial edge.
The upload is so important as when you perform an action it is the upload speed that communicates the signal to your competition. If your upload is a small fraction of a second slower than your rival then the result might be less than desirable. So if you find yourself running into an eventuality where you are trying to be price conscious as well as competitive always select the Internet option with the quickest upload possible even if the download is weaker than your other options. It's this upload that you'll come to understand as your optimal asset while gaming.
The next aspect we'll cover is relating to the difference between cable and DSL Internet. Many do not realize what exactly the difference is and how it can impact gaming. DSL can present some advantages in that it's not influenced by more users logging on at different times of the day. A standard mistake is that because it runs thru a telephone line the speed is slower. Frequently with DSL the upload is faster and speeds are far more consistent as cable connections are shared with everyone on the street. After 5 o'clock when everybody comes home the speed on cable Internet connections tend to slow a bit and DSL doesn't. So be certain to review the upload speed on the DSL verses cable connections in your neighborhood to see what the differences are.
Finally when you have your connection installed be certain to run a proper speed test. This is the final area of big confusion and when you are gaming it is very important to get get a proper comprehension of the data. The first rule to remember is to never run wirelessly when playing games. Wireless Internet drastically slows down your upload and download as well as adds heavy lag time. When you perform a speed test what you want to pay attention to is what's called the ping. The ping shows whats known as latency which is a fancy name for lag time from the time you perform a command to the moment the Internet responds. If you have a friend with a cable connection and friend with DSL ideally you need to run a speed test to find out which has the quickest ping time. By using these simple tips you should be able to help understand which is the most optimal Internet connection in your area for your gaming needs.

Alienware Area 51 doesnt work properly from the first start up?
Hey guys,
I just got a brand new Alienware Area 51 desktop pc. Recently from the first start up the lights were off, the venting system woulnt work and it would be really loud. I need to do a restart every single time, which is really annoying. Anyone know what this might be?
Cheers.
Okay, First The lights can be a few different things. For example: Cables may have come loose during transport, You need to Upgrade the Drivers, etc. The vents aren't working because the settings need to be configured to your liking. You can control that via the Alienware Command Center. Decide on Manual Opening or Automatic (Based on need) In other words some settings won't open the gills if the heat inside the machine doesn't trigger the sensor to open up the gills. BUT if you want the look of them being open just manually(And I don't mean physically prying them) open them via the Menu system using Alienware's Command Center. Third nearly all Alienware desktops start up as jet engines. Thats perfectly normal. However, you can probably lower the fan speeds/power via manual settings to more reasonable levels. (Just be careful not to lower it too much that the unit overheats)
