Why laptop's trackpads are now slightly on the left ?

Haven't you noticed that most of the latest laptops now have the trackpads slightly shifted on the left ? is it so we can rest our right forarm on the laptop , and also when we type on the keyboard, we just need to rotate or forarm to reach the trackpad ?
My laptop's touch pad is centered, but I don't have the number pad on the side. Perhaps when they put a number pad into the design of a laptop, they decide to keep it centered with the space bar, like a standard touchpad is, instead of centering it with the whole keyboard.
