i'm looking into getting a portable computer (laptop/net book/tablet PC) but i need some help?
okay, i'm probably going to buy one around christmas time because i'll need it for when i go to college. my brother is going to start needing this computer for his school work.
i need to know a few things first.
1) what are all the different types of portable computers?
like, i know there is
1. laptop
2. net book (smaller version of laptop)
3. tablet PC (it has a touch screen)
is there any thing else?
2) does a tablet PC close so that the touchscreen isn't at the top? does a tablet PC have a keyboard? on this website, it says there is a slate, converitble, and hybrid table PC; what's the difference?

3) how do i choose the best brand out there?
4) are macbooks worth it?
5) how do you get wireless internet on these types of computers?
1) that covers 99% of portable computers, there is also tablets like the ipad that have no keyboard (and other things that barely qualify as a computer)
2) almost all tablets have a keyboard and screen that rotates on a hinge so it can close screen down & screen up. If you plan on buying one, be sure to look at the picture, a picture is worth a thousand words.
3) user reviews are helpful
4) depends on who you ask. I will say that macbooks have very nice hardware, but if it is worth the money? maybe.
5) most use a built-in wifi card. this means you need to have a internet provider (cable or dsl) and a wireless router installed at home. Other people also get wireless internet using a phone that can tether or a myfi device (both require plans).
